Flowing Johnny Trail Maintenance
Located in the Johnny Behind the Rocks Trail system located 15 miles southeast of Lander, Wyoming, Flowin Johnny is a loop of just under 2 miles that is half natural surface and half compacted crusher fine surface. After the trail’s completion, several severe rain events took place and water washed out the crusher fine surface and created damage to the trail.
In 2024 Wyoming Pathways contracted the Pointe Strategies team to perform maintenance on the crusher fine section of the trail to repair all the damaged areas. The maintenance was done by Evan Ely and Joe Tehan in late October after the summer heat had passed and before the winter snow arrived. Trail and tread work was done using an excavator and crusher fines were moved from the trailhead parking area to the trail using a skid steer loader. After the areas were patched and corrected, a plate compactor was used to mechanically compact the trail tread for long term durability.
