Wildcat Bike Trail Design
Pointe Strategies was hired to develop a conceptual directional mountain bike trail to incorporate a variety of components popular with today’s mountain biking community while offering options for riders to progressively build their skills and help relieve the pressure on other trails within Tilden and Wildcat Canyon Parks.
Pointe began the design process by receiving and reviewing all project data resources (GIS data, topography, recent studies available) before setting up a site visit to meet with Trails Program, Park Supervisor, & Stewardship staff to discuss project history, context, design parameters, and operational considerations (grazing, emergency response, etc.) After a site visit was complete, several alternative design concepts were created and presented to key stakeholders. After much discussion with those involved, a final conceptual design was agreed upon and a preferred concept trail plan with schematic and illustrative drawings, planning-level cost estimates, and a summary report justifying the preferred alternative were all developed and provided to the client.
